FAFSA and Stafford loans

In order to apply for any Stafford loans you must have completed a FAFSA form and have a valid PIN. The sooner you have the FAFSA completed the better you chances are of receiving more money.

Filling out the FAFSA is time consuming but its FREE! If you do not have this step completed then you will not be able to seek a Stafford loan. You will receive a Student Aid report a few weeks after you fill the FAFSA out and this will tell you how much money you will be getting. This report will also need to be sent to your school for their records.

Stafford loans applications can be done online and will require you and your parent (if you are under 25), to sign a promisary note. Always keep a copy of these items for your record because you will need them if you have to follow up.
